Treatment at Well Bath

Reiki in Bath

A softer form of healing

You lie fully clothed on the treatment couch. Heidi's hands rest lightly on or above you, and something in the room settles. Reiki is a hands-on healing modality developed in Japan in the early twentieth century by Mikao Usui, working with the body's own energetic field. Treatments are held on a couch, fully clothed, with the practitioner's hands resting lightly on or above the energy centres.

A Reiki session with Heidi is a nurturing experience that supports balance and rest for mind, body, and spirit. Lying fully clothed on a massage couch in a peaceful setting, you receive gentle energy that supports the body's natural healing process, eases discomfort, and calms the mind.

Nothing is asked of you during a session. Some people fall asleep. Some feel warmth, tingling, or subtle movement in the body. Some report seeing colours or memories. Some feel nothing at all during the session and notice the difference the next day. All are within the range of a normal Reiki session.

What people bring

Presentations commonly worked with

Reiki is a container more than a treatment. What people arrive with is often less a specific complaint and more a nervous system that has been running on effort.

  • Anxiety that responds better to being held than to being talked at
  • Sleep that has been shallow or slow to arrive
  • Grief, loss, or a stretch of low mood
  • Chronic pain patterns where a stronger practice is too much
  • Burnout after a long working stretch
  • Cancer treatment or recovery when movement is out of reach
  • Curiosity about energy work in a professionally credentialed context

Reiki is a complementary practice, not a medical treatment. Heidi is happy to work alongside any medical care you are already receiving. If you are working with a specific diagnosis, mention it on arrival.

What a session is like

From arrival to the last breath in the room

The session runs sixty minutes in Heidi's therapy room at Well Bath.

  1. 01

    Arrival and settling

Front door, tea from the Welsh dresser if you want it, up to the therapy room. Heidi greets you in the same considered register she holds the session in.

  2. 02

    A short conversation

A few minutes to talk about what you are carrying and what you would like from the hour. Nothing you have to explain further than you want to.

  3. 03

    Onto the couch

Fully clothed, warm blanket, lights low. Heidi settles you in and asks whether you prefer light touch or hands hovering above the body.

  4. 04

    The session

Heidi moves through the energy centres — crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, root — holding each for several minutes. Time softens. You may feel warmth, tingling, colour, or notice nothing during the session and feel the difference the next day.

  5. 05

    Coming back

A few minutes of quiet as Heidi brings the session to a close. When you are ready, sit up in your own time. There is water in the room.

  6. 06

    Aftercare note

Heidi may share a short observation or an invitation for the coming week. Nothing prescriptive. Regulars often walk out and take a slower rest of the day.

Weighing it up

Reiki versus the Reiki and Meditations Group Healing evening

Heidi holds both. If you are choosing, this is what changes.

Reiki (one-to-one) Group Healing evening
Setting Private in the therapy room. The studio, held for a room of people.
Attention The full hour is on you. Heidi holds the whole room together.
Register A deeper, more specific piece of work. A shared, held evening.
Cost £75 for the hour. Workshop rate.
Best if you Want dedicated time and a full hour on your specific presentation. Are curious, or want a regular monthly rhythm.

Many of Heidi's regulars use both — the monthly evening for the rhythm, the one-to-ones when something specific calls.

What the evidence says

Research and clinical literature

Reiki has a growing evidence base for anxiety, pain, and quality of life, though the field is smaller than the meditation literature.

  • Randomised trials of Reiki report reductions in anxiety and pain across a range of clinical populations, with effect sizes similar to other complementary therapies.

Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice · Thrane & Cohen · 2014

  • Reiki sessions are associated with measurable reductions in heart rate and blood pressure during and after the session compared with baseline in observational studies.

Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine · reviews · 2018

  • In palliative care settings, Reiki has been associated with reduced perceived pain intensity and improvements in quality-of-life measures.

Palliative and Supportive Care · reviews · 2019

Questions people ask

Before you book

Do I have to believe in Reiki for it to work? +
No. Heidi's view is that many first-time visitors arrive curious or sceptical and leave saying it exceeded what they had been expecting. The session asks nothing of you technically.
Will Heidi touch me? +
Light touch is standard, hands resting on shoulders, chest, abdomen, feet. If you prefer touch-free work, Heidi will hover above the body instead. Named at the start of the session.
What is Heidi's training? +
Heidi first met Reiki at The College of Psychic Studies in London in 2002. She has been a Reiki Master and Teacher since 2008 and has extended her work over more than two decades to include Energy Clearing, Home Healing, Meditation Teaching and Feng Shui Consulting.
What if I fall asleep? +
Common and welcome. Heidi will bring you back gently at the end. Sleep during a session is not a lost hour — the body often integrates the work more readily when the analytical mind is out of the way.
Can I bring Reiki alongside medical care? +
Yes. Reiki sits alongside conventional care rather than replacing it. Many of Heidi's clients see her regularly through cancer treatment, surgery recovery, or long stretches of stress and anxiety.
How often should I come? +
There is no set rhythm. Some people come weekly for a run, then taper to monthly. Some come at difficult thresholds only. Heidi will name what she thinks would serve you best if you ask.
Can I add the Treatment Extension? +
Yes — thirty extra minutes for £35, for when you know you want a longer, deeper session. Select at the booking stage.
