Treatment at Well Bath

Reflexology in Bath with Olivia

The whole body, through the feet

You lie on the couch, fully clothed apart from shoes and socks. Olivia works both feet through the reflex points that correspond to the whole body. Reflexology is a hands-on modality that works with the feet as a map of the whole body. Specific points on the foot correspond to specific systems and organs. Olivia uses precise pressure to release blockages and support circulation.

Olivia's reflexology sits inside her broader clinical practice. She is a chartered physiotherapist of fifteen years with a specialism in cancer care and lymphoedema, and that anatomical grounding shows in her work on the feet. Reflexology is also held at Well Bath by Jan Erik, in a softer, more sensory register.

What people bring

Presentations commonly worked with

Reflexology is a container for the whole nervous system. What people arrive with is often less a specific complaint and more a wish for a treatment that asks nothing of them.

  • Anxiety and general nervous-system unsteadiness
  • Sleep that has been shallow, broken, or slow to arrive
  • Digestive patterns that shift with stress
  • Menstrual and hormonal patterns
  • Cancer treatment or recovery when full-body bodywork feels too much
  • A first bodywork session for people cautious of being touched full-body
  • Chronic low-grade tension without an obvious source

Reflexology is a complementary treatment. It works alongside medical care and does not replace it. If you are pregnant, tell your practitioner at the intake — the work is generally welcomed in pregnancy but the specific pressure varies.

What a session is like

From arrival to the last breath in the room

The session runs sixty minutes in one of the therapy rooms.

  1. 01

    Arrival

Front door, herbal tea, up to the therapy room. You stay fully clothed — only shoes and socks come off.

  2. 02

    Intake

A short conversation about what you are carrying and what you would like from the session. Medications, current medical care, any specific area of concern.

  3. 03

    Getting settled

You lie on the treatment couch, propped and warm, feet exposed. Lights low. Music soft or absent, whichever you prefer.

  4. 04

    The work

The practitioner works both feet systematically, moving through the reflex points that correspond to the whole body. Pressure is specific, not casual. What feels like an ordinary massage from the outside is precise mapping from the inside.

  5. 05

    Coming back

A few minutes of stillness at the end. Water is offered. The practitioner will share a few brief observations if useful.

  6. 06

    Rest of the day

Regulars often keep the afternoon slower than usual. The nervous system tends to keep settling for several hours after the session.

What the evidence says

Research and clinical literature

Reflexology has a modest but growing evidence base, particularly for anxiety, sleep, and cancer supportive care.

  • Foot reflexology reduces state anxiety and improves subjective sleep quality across multiple small randomised trials.

Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice · reviews · 2018

  • In cancer supportive-care settings, reflexology has been associated with reductions in fatigue, nausea, and perceived stress compared with usual care.

Oncology Nursing Forum · Wyatt et al. · 2015

  • Reflexology sessions produce measurable reductions in heart rate and blood pressure during and after the session in observational studies.

Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine · reviews · 2019

Questions people ask

Before you book

Do I have to undress? +
No — reflexology is a feet-only treatment. You stay fully clothed apart from shoes and socks.
Is it ticklish? +
Rarely. The pressure used is deep enough that the nervous system reads it as work rather than tickle. Olivia can adjust the pressure if needed.
How is this different from Jan Erik's reflexology? +
Same modality, different register. Olivia's session sits inside her chartered physiotherapy practice: anatomically grounded, precise, a clinician's touch. If you are managing a diagnosis or in recovery, Olivia's background often meets that best. If you want a softer, more sensory session, Jan Erik's version is the one to book.
Can I have reflexology during pregnancy? +
Yes, with some adjustments. Tell your practitioner at the intake so they can adapt the pressure and avoid the specific points that are traditionally avoided in pregnancy.
How often should I come? +
There is no set rhythm. Some come once for the experience. Some settle into a monthly rhythm as a nervous-system reset. Regulars often say a run of three or four sessions across a stressful stretch is the sweet spot.
Can I add on other treatments? +
Reflexology tends to want its own space rather than being combined. If you are unsure, ask Joe — he will help you shape a day that works.
