Holistic Massage in Bath

Bodywork read from the whole person

Diane reads the tissue as she goes and adapts. Nothing routine. She works with the whole body rather than a specific complaint. She reads the tissue as she goes and adapts, blending techniques from her sports-massage training with her yoga background and osteopathic-adjustment experience.

Suited to clients who want an unhurried, integrated session that treats the person on the day rather than a symptom.

What people bring

Presentations commonly worked with

Diane's Holistic Massage is chosen when what the body wants is a considered whole — not a fix on a single spot. Her yoga eye and her twenty-five years of teaching read the person as much as the tissue.

  • General tightness across the body without a single site to fix
  • A busy stretch that has left the whole system braced
  • A rhythm of monthly self-care rather than reactive treatment
  • Return to bodywork after a long time away from it
  • Menopausal patterns held across the body — Diane runs a Yoga for Menopause CPD workshop
  • Wanting the massage held by someone who reads the body from the mat side as well as the couch side
  • Wanting an alternative to the more athletic Sports Massage register

Holistic Massage is a whole-body restorative treatment. For a specific injury or training-driven pattern, see Diane's Sports Massage. For clinical assessment, look at Olivia's Physiotherapy.

What a session is like

From arrival to the last breath in the room

The session runs sixty minutes in the therapy room.

  1. 01

    Arrival and intake

Front door, herbal tea, up to the therapy room. Diane's intake is broader than a symptom check — she asks about the week, the body, and what has been asked of it.

  2. 02

    A brief read

Diane reads standing posture and any small movements she wants to see. Her yoga background gives her a distinctive read on how a body moves.

  3. 03

    On the table

Undress to your underwear, warm blanket, only the area being worked is exposed. Diane confirms pressure preference — she can go firm where the body wants it and soft where the body needs it.

  4. 04

    The work

Diane moves across the whole body rather than a symptom site, adapting technique as she reads what is present. Sports massage moves for a tight area, gentler strokes elsewhere, osteopathic-adjustment work if the body signals it is ready.

  5. 05

    Integration

Time to sit up slowly, drink water, feel the difference. Diane will often give one or two small notes — a stretch, a self-release, a mat cue.

  6. 06

    Closing conversation

She names what she found, what she thinks the rhythm ahead could look like, and where the body might land in a couple of days.

Weighing it up

Holistic Massage versus Sports Massage

Both are Diane's hands. The intention is what differs.

Holistic Massage Sports Massage
Focus Whole body, whole person, adaptable session by session. Specific pattern from training or repetitive load.
Register Nurturing, unhurried, integrated. Athletic, targeted, worked.
You leave Settled, softened, integrated. Clear, released, ready for the next training block.
Best if you Want a regular whole-body rhythm without a specific complaint. Train, race, or push a body hard.
Cost £75 for the hour. £75 for the hour.

Regulars sometimes move between the two depending on the season — Holistic in quieter stretches, Sports Massage in loaded ones.

What the evidence says

Research and clinical literature

Whole-body massage has a substantial evidence base for stress, sleep, and general wellbeing.

  • Regular whole-body massage produces measurable reductions in cortisol and increases in serotonin, with associated improvements in sleep and mood.

  • Adaptive whole-body bodywork (adjusted session by session) shows higher client-reported satisfaction and adherence than fixed-protocol massage.

Questions people ask

Before you book

How is Diane trained? +
Diane is founder and senior teacher of the Academy for Yoga Training with nearly twenty-five years of teaching behind her. She is a sports masseuse administering osteopathic adjustments, an accredited Angel Card master and spiritual coach, and a Yoga Sports Coach through the Paul Chek Institute. Her mat-side yoga background gives her an unusual read on how bodies move.
Will Diane give me stretches or exercises? +
Sometimes — small, specific things that meet what she found in the session. Nothing overwhelming. Her yoga eye tends to see the one movement that would make the pattern easier to keep loose.
Is this a spiritual session? +
The room holds Diane's warmth and her broader work as a spiritual coach, but the massage itself is bodywork. If you would like a spiritual coaching session with her, that runs separately — mention it and she can point you at how to arrange it.
How often should I come? +
Monthly is a common rhythm for her regulars. Weekly for a stretch when the body is asking for it, then tapering.
What if I want to combine with a yoga class? +
Diane teaches Hot Yoga on Tuesdays and holds Wake Up and Flow on Thursdays. Some clients come for both across a week or drop in for a class on a massage day.
Can I add the Treatment Extension? +
Yes — thirty extra minutes for £34, for a longer, deeper session. Select at booking.
